Mihrimah Sultan Mosque
It was built by the daughter of Suleiman the Magnificient, Mihrimah Sultan in 1547, across the port. It is a group of buildings with its annexes, and is important with its cubic simplicity and harmony. It was built on the outskirt of Sultantepe in Üsküdar, is across the Sultan ahmet fountain and in the port of Üsküdar. There is a marble water tank with twenty faucets in front of the last congregation place. There are little stars in the water basins, and a belt with an embossing in the shape of a lily. There are two minarets with single gallery made of cut stone on the right and left sides, with doors opening to the last congregation place. The wings of doors and windows have inlay works made of ivory, mother of pearl and ebony. The preacher’s desk is a beautiful example of Turkish inlay works. There is an inlay work of ‘’Kelime-i Tevhid’’ made of ivory on the wings of the door.
