Adile Sultan Mansion
This mansion was found on the garden of 345.000 square meters between Kofluyolu and Altunizade. It was built for Sultan Abdülaziz’s younger sister Adile Sultan (1853). There is a possibility that its architect is Balyan kalfa. It is three stories including the basement. The bearing structures were made with stone, and other sections were built with special bricks. The ornaments of the dome and the ceilings of some rooms still exist today. The mansion was used as the dormitary for the orphans, which was called ‘’Darü’leytam’’ during the fi,rst years of the republic. Afterwards, the Education Minister Mustafa Necati Bey founded a prevantorium for the kids with a 60 bed capacity. A section of 100 beds was added on May 27, 1928. Another story was added to the top, and it became a health center of 200 beds. It is used today as a facility for teachers.
